Missouri Credit Union
Increased Scholarships
Missouri Credit Union is offering more and higher scholarships to help member families cope with the rising cost of higher education and the resulting burden on household budgets.
"We are very concerned at the challenge that families face to pay for post-secondary education," said Hal James, president. "Since many see higher education as the best choice to enhance career opportunity in a still-dormant economy, we at Missouri Credit Union want to do what we can to help our members ease the burden."
James said the credit union will offer 16 scholarships this year, up from nine in the past. Each scholarship will be $2,500 for graduating high school seniors who are members of Missouri Credit Union, or whose parents are members. The credit union also will award scholarships for students planning to attend post-secondary technical schools such as Linn State Technical College.
Missouri Credit Union has awarded more than $306,000 in scholarships since 1993.
