Missouri Credit Union Increased Scholarships
Missouri Credit Union offers 16 scholarships to help member families cope with the rising cost of higher education and the resulting burden on household budgets.
“We are very concerned about the challenge that families face to pay for post-secondary education,” said Hal James, president. “Since many see higher education as the best choice to enhance career opportunity in a slow economy, we at Missouri Credit Union want to do what we can to help our members ease the burden.”
Each scholarship will be $2,500 for graduating high school seniors who are members of Missouri Credit Union or whose parents are members. The credit union also will award scholarships for students planning to attend post-secondary technical schools such as Linn State Technical College.
MCU names its scholarships in honor of these past Board of Directors: Alan T. Busby, Anthony W. Lampe, Pauline “Pat” Miles, Harold “Hal” G. Virgen, and Brenda Fasken. Each one made outstanding contributions to MCU during their lifetime. Since 1993, Missouri Credit Union has awarded more than $423, 500 in scholarships.
Beginning January 3, 2017, MCU will accept applications for the scholarships. High school seniors graduating in spring of 2017 are eligible. The recipients will receive the scholarship funds for use toward the four-year college or university of their choice, or a two-year technical school of their choice.
